March 4 Dehli - Kochi
After a brutal 3am wake up call we were on the bus at 4:15 heading for the airport. The streets weren't empty, but the traffic did seem to move more freely. Our trip to the airport only took 40 minutes.
Passed over some mountains about 30 minutes outside of Kochi.
Instead of going directly to the ship, we got a mini-tour of Kochi. There were lots of Bollywood posters along the roads. This one is unique in that a scooter doesn't appear as part of the image. Generally it was a guy, a girl and a Vespa.
We passed the famous Kochi fishing nets in the river
INS Vikrant under construction in the Kochi shipyard. Launched in 2013, it might be done by 2018
A full fledged Naval installation, they even arranged a helicopter fly-by as we drove by.
First European church built in India about 1500, rebuilt in 1516 in stone. From 1524 to 1538 Vasco da Gamma was buried here. If you removed your shoes, you could enter the church to see the headstone from that burial.
Across the street from the church are the famous fishing nets. And lots of sidewalk vendors selling just about anything. I was most impressed with the guy selling camera equipment -- SD cards and batteries. I bought nothing, but this guy was unique.
In the bushes near the beach
Sights along the street on the way to the ship
And that was our time in India. We have three sea days, and then three days in Myanmar (Burma). We have an overnight trip scheduled to the Temples of Bagan. There will probably be a pause in the blog until we're finished with that.

Enjoyed reading about your Taj overland experience. We aren't planning to do this on the 2017 RTW, leaving it for when we return to India for a land-based vacation. This will be our first time in India, and it looks to be quite fascinating.
