March 13 Kuala Lumpur

In KL (as those of us now in the know call it) we chose an unguided tour -- they drove us the hour to KL, dropped us off at a shopping center, and picked us up four hours later.  It was a Sunday, so traffic was lighter than normal, so it didn't take 1.5 hours to travel each way.

In the outskirts of KL, an apartment complex

This is across the street from where we were dropped off.  "Malls" in KL were all very tall buildings with many floors of shops within.  On the street level there were lots of shops vying for your attention.
Research had indicated that there was an air-conditioned overhead walkway that would take us to Suria KLCC, a very high end mall right at the Petronas Towers.

Outside Suria KLCC with the towers in the background.

At the base of the towers.  They really go up there.  Trips to the top were closed when we were there.  Not that my acrophobia would have allowed too much up at the top anyway.

Street scene in KL

The definitely middle class shopping center we were dropped off at.  It used to be upscale but has been passed over through time.

Back to Insignia with an extra bauble -- the port's gangway had an awning. Helpful in the brutal heat of the sun, but did nothing for the 300 yards we had to walk without any cover.

Neither Penang nor KL are amongst our Malaysia stops in 2017 ... nice to see them even if in pictures only.
