March 15 Singapore

Our second day in Singapore was on our own.  We bought Hop On Hop Off bus tickets in the cruise terminal, and there was a special connector bus that took us into town to the connector hub for all of the routes.

Everybody live in high rises in Singapore

We got off the bus and explored the Marina Bay area.  That's the Marina Bay Sands hotel on the left and the Singapore Flyer in the middle.

We paid the $5 each and took the skywalk, a great experience, if a little acrophobic.
As tourists in Singapore we had to go to Raffles, we of course...

...we had a Singapore Sling.  It was very good and very expensive -- about $75USD by the time the bill was paid for two drinks.  But it was a neat place and we were following in the footsteps of all those British.
Instead of taking the HoHo connector bus back to the ship, we went for the full experience, and boarded the MRT.
It wasn't very crowded.  I have a video clip of this view as the train goes through turns...it looks like the train is swaying back and forth like a snake.  Very cool both in temperature and experience.  YIou can get a full day pass on the MRT for $10 and it's a great way to get around.  At the Harbourfront stop we went directly into the Cruise Terminal without going outdoors (after asking directions--everyone spoke English and were very helpful).
It was changeover day onboard.  They bring out this uniform only on boarding days.  Very much in keeping with British colonials, I think.
