June 23  Cornito Nicaragua

Another Central American country, and another trip to the colonial capital.  These places were frequently destroyed by earthquakes/volcano eruptions so what remains is special.  This was also special as it's the last ship's excursion we have planned.

The volcanoes are everywhere in Central America

There was an small band welcoming us on the pier
We traveled to Leon, and spent our short time here in the city square
 The cathedral

Today, Thursday, is Father's Day in Nicaragua.  There were lots of schoolkids in the square.
After a climb of 81 steps we were on the roof of the cathedral where we had great views and a demonstration of the Nicaraguan rainy season.  Fortunately it was only a demo and not the real things.  Just a little shower.

 Yes, volcanoes in the distance
