June 16 San Diego Sailaway

San Diego put on an impressive show during our afternoon sailaway.  There was a little bit of everything.

We had two Coast Guard boats escort us from the dock until we were out of US waters.
Here's the Carl Vinson with the elevator doors to the hangar deck open on both sides.
The CG boats had a great time zipping around.
That's CVN 71, Theodore Roosevelt (The Big Stick) in the background
LPD 22 is the USS San Diego entering its eponymous port.
A C5 Galaxy landed at the Naval Air Station while we were passing by
Shortly followed by an F18 Hornet taking off.  This guy did NOT follow noise abatement practices.
Coast Guard still having fun, making sure that we weren't threatened by a sailboat.
A flight of SH60 Seahawk helicopters finished out the air and boat show.  We may not pay the military very well, but we give them nifty toys to play with.
