June 16 San Diego

We pulled into San Diego.  Definitely a Navy Town.  Warships all over the place.

Just as we pulled in to the cruise terminal, two Japanese destroyers were pulling our from the adjacent dock.
Just across the harbor, the CVN Carl Vinson, most recently known as the burial platform for bin Laden.
We walked around the city near the harbor.  Here's a very large statue of the famous VJ-day photo.

Tile on the Santa Fe Depot wall
We went through the USS Midway, a museum built into the long serving aircraft carrier

Anchor chain, each link weighs 140 pounds (not determined personally)
 Combat Information Center
 A squadron ready room
 Engineering power plant control panel
A-6 Intruder.  Strange jet in that the pointy part is in the back.

On the bridge, this is the engine room telegraph
Most photographed statue on the Midway, this is the catapult "shooter" signalling a launch.
California moment: Roller skates and baby carriage
