April 26 Bali
We arrived in port about noon after passing along the eastern coast of the island. Pretty obvious we're in the Pacific Rim of Fire here.
We had nothing scheduled until 5 pm, so we wandered into the terminal and out into the shopping area. Many of our ports seem to have shopping areas, some well established and others built on the fly. There was music and dancing to welcome us here.
Some interesting signs in the cruise terminal.
Several of the people creating the art available in the stands. Hot gluing small shells on a plastic ball to create something interesting. Carving a face.
In the evening, Oceania was taking all of us "worldies" to a Royal Balinese Feast. Ten buses of people got into the provided sarongs and rode out to the Pura Taman Ayun. We had a police escort in an attempt to get us there quickly, but even with the police we lost a bus and had to wait. We waited right next to a shop that sold birds. And bird seed.
Street art, a statue in the center of a traffic roundabout
At the temple, as we stood on either side of the street there was a procession of workers and entertainers that led us into the temple grounds. Inside there was music and dancing.
Dinner was presented by hundreds of servers arriving in a long queue with plates to be served.
Marigold centerpiece
The directions to the restroom were: Go back along this path about 300 feet then turn left at the cock fighting pit. It had this statuary diorama in it.
A fun evening that lasted until well after 11pm. And our tour tomorrow started at 7:30am. Still great
