April 11 Hiroshima -- Peace Memorial Park
We left the gardens for the peace park, and the first thing you see is the Genbaku Dome, near the spot above which the first atomic bomb exploded.
Lots of police officers were scurrying about as they blocked roads and moved G7 ministers from place to place. Fortunately we got here after the ministers had left.
The bridge in the left of the picture was the "T" bridge used as the aiming point by the bombardier of Enola Gay
Mound where the cremated remains of many of the bomb dead are buried.
John Kerry's wreath. He is the 1st US Secretary of State to visit Hiroshima since WWII.
View along the axis of the Peace Park.
In the Peace Museum there is a diorama depicting the location and size of the atomic blast
The darker area on the steps is where a man entering the building had shadowed the steps from the atomic burst of light and heat
The G7 foreign ministers conference
Tidal river by the port
