April 11 Hiroshima -- Shukkeien Gardens
We visited Hiroshima along with John Kerry and the rest of the G7 foreign ministers. Although we visited the same places, they seemed to have better buses.
We were met with yet another face to face immigration review here in Japan. The Asian countries seem to want to get to know you personally. They also like to photograph you with infrared cameras to make sure you're not bringing a fever into the country also.
Our first stop, after a two hour drive from the port in Kobe to Kyoto, was the Shukkeien Gardens. A lovely Japanese Garden in the middle of a high rise city.
And don't take our word for it. I saw at least 4 couples getting wedding photos done in the garden.
The lake is one great big koi pond. And they sell fish food to keep growing them even bigger.
God knows I can't read a symbol of Japanese, and many of them speak and write passable English, but sometimes you just have to laugh.
Here's a photo assistant from one of the wedding photo activities. Note her utility belt full of hairpins, combs and makeup essentials. She was quite amused that I wanted to take a picture of her.
A little cutie in the park. She has her bag of fish food and is ready to go.
Another wedding photo group arrives.
