Feb 28 Falkland Islands

Continuing our incredible run of weather luck, we're able to visit the Falklands today and actually get off the ship after 5 days aboard. We made it to the sheltered anchorage and tendered into Port Stanley.

A minivan driven by Ali took us across the island to Bluff Cove, about 25 minutes on paved and gravel roads.
Erosion from the mountains -- large piles of quartzite.
Finally, the penguins.  These are gentoo penguins, and they are currently molting.  According to the ranger they are cold and miserable until the new feathers come in.

Showing off

There was also a small group of King penguins

They also had chicks and seemed to form a Roman Square to protect the young ones
Penguin antics.  You can also see that most of gentoo penguins were about knee height

Another group of gentoo was on the beach in front of the cafe.
Some of them seemed relaxed
A look of derision, perhaps
We returned to Port Stanley and walked about a little. We are in the United Kingdom
