It was a partly cloudy cool day with 10% chance of rain. So we got rained on several times, briefly and not soaking. Probably about 10% of the time.
We left the ship, went one wharf over, and caught the ferry to Devenport, a northern suburb of Auckland. Bicycles welcome.
Lots of downtown workers must use the ferry, but we were going in the opposite direction.
We had a self-guided walking tour around Devenport. This is the Esplanada Hotel, right by the ferry terminal.

A very tiring day, my fitbit said 20K steps, 9 miles walked. New Zealand and Australia were great places to visit. New Zealand could have been warmer, but it is their autumn heading into winter. Only bad seas a couple of times. We recommend them highly. They even speak English, or close to it.

the lovely pale yellow house is Elizabeth House which are 2 identical and joined buildings. The Navy originally used these to accommodate the Women's Royal NZ Naval Services and you could rent an apartment in this building....what a view!
Next is the clock tower on the seawall: that whole area is the King Edward Parade which has the Devonport Yacht Club, plaques to honor the shipbuilders of the area and the clock feature commemorates Mr. Watson, a key contributor the building of the seawall.
