We're working our way down the west coast of Mexico and the next stop is Zihautanejo, although Zihau appears to be the accepted name. It's a lovely coastal city and retains its old flavor. That's because the government has created a beach resort town 4 miles up the beach named Ixtapa, and that's where the high rise hotels and condos have been placed. This is just a section of the Ixtapa area.
The Zihau bay has a number of dwellings going up the hillside.
This is another tender port so we've sent out our emissary to establish a base camp. The tender dock is just around the spit of land on the left, so we're left with about a half-mile hike into town, or the Oceania supplied shuttle bus that takes us right into the center of the city.
We're met by local dancers
Another dancer awaiting her turn
Cynthia has decided that we're "third age people" and need constant supervision. I want to know what's a "light plant?"
An idyllic beach
and a working beach for the small fishing fleet
We've seen many more VW Beetles in Mexico than we did in Munich and Berlin this summer.
Sidewalk at a bar.
A panorama of the Zihau bay.
Just a reminder of a section of the nightly buffet available to us.
