July 26 Helsinki Finland

A lovely place.  Unfortunately we were berthed about as far away as you can get while still being at the "good" cruise terminal.  And to add insult to injury we had to backtrack immediately on leaving the ship to go around the ferry loading area.  Made for a long walk into town.

Fort guarding the approaches to Helsinki harbor
Small suburb with church and ferry service
Probably should have rented a bike for the long hike into town.  It was about a kilometer or more to Market Square, which is the beginning of the tourist area.

The Lutheran Church standing over Senate Square

 Electric trams
Front door of the Lutheran Church
We overheard an English guide telling her followers that for such an ornate church outside, the inside is plain.

A hextet playing for the shoppers outside Stockman's department store.  Marimekko was right across the street from them.
 The train station

You don't have to go to Cuba to see the vintage cars.  This is just one of several we saw.

A beautiful day in Helsinki (a Friday) brought out a crowd to the swimming pool by the ferry dock.

Now, three very busy days in St Petersburg Russia.
