Sat Sept 13 Seattle

Today we went further afield.  After another breakfast of Daily Dozen Doughnuts (there's nobody else open that early...) we drove up to friendly, funky Fremont.  As you cross the drawbridge into town you meet Rapunzel

The Fremont area has public art distributed widely.  Besides architecture, there's Waiting for the InterUrban and the Clown and the King.  Under the Rt 99 bridge there's the troll, part of the Troll's Knoll Park Development.

There's a statue of Lenin and a signpost for the world (and more).

and the Fremont Rocket Ship
There's a more traditional boathouse under the bridge from which many Saturday morning scullers had departed.
We next went to Kerry Park for the view of the city.  Fraiser would have lived here if he really wasn't on a soundstage in Los Angeles.
If you look carefully you can see Rainier on the right.  Not a cloud near it.

While at Kerry Park we witnessed a proposal and acceptance.  Life goes on. You'll be glad to know that a friend took a video of the entire event using his iPad.  This is a high tech town with Amazon and Microsoft and many others.
Back at the hotel we wandered a little further in our neighborhood.  We found the original Starbucks, retail shop #1, showing the first logo.  A beverage purchase later allowed me to salute a family member (who doesn't drink Diet Coke, but the other choice was Lauren) and a few pictures from our neighborhood here.

Steve is more than happy to let you drink all of that diet coke - no sharing necessary. :)
