We're spending several days in Santa Fe and visiting with an Around The World cruising friend, Pat. She took on the role of tour guide and has taken us to all sorts of places in and around the city.
Santa Fe is the nexus of several old trails: Santa Fe, Pecos and Old Spanish. This monument to the Santa Fe trail is also indicative of all the public art in Santa Fe.
Rock, Paper, Scissors
We stayed at the La Fonda, downtown, and got a room upgrade. Here's our room....
...and this was the view from our balcony, the Cathedral Basilica St. Francis Assisi
The Palace of the Governors, and the Native American jewelry on sale along the plaza.
The baptistry inside the cathedral
This bride was NOT rushing to the ceremony, but rather to an evening photo shoot on the cathedral square. It was cold and the gown was strapless, so the fleece and gloves were for warmth.
Cathedral of St. Francis Assisi
The plaza at the Palace of the Governors
Burro Alley
The Virgin Mary, La Conquistadora, brought to Santa Fe in 1626, the first & oldest image of her in North America.
We brought more snow on the ski trails than they got all last year.
Black Mesa
El Santuario de Chimayó is the terminus of many pilgrimages. The dirt inside the sanctuary is believed by the pilgrims to cure disease and infirmity.
Rev. Casimiro Roca, a pastor of the church. We actually met him about 1983 on our first visit to the Santa Fe area.
