When we last visited Dubrovnik we walked the city walls. Today they wanted 40e for the privilege. That seemed just a little costly so we stayed on the city streets.
Limestone paved Stradun Street is the main drag.
Inside the St. Francis church
Onofrio's Fountain. People were filling their water bottle here
St. Savior Church
A side street to the north goes steeply uphill
Clock tower of Dubrovnik
St. Blaise Church
The clock tower is digital! With hours in Roman numerals and minutes in Arabic numerals. Pretty much guaranteed to confuse everyone.
Outside the Fishmarket Gate, we're standing on the docks for the city
A pigeon takes advantage of the water fountain built into the wall
St. Blaise Church again
Inside St. Blaise
The Rector's Palace
The Dubrovnik Cathedral was wrapped in construction scaffolds, but this statue was visible.
The steps leading up to St. Ignatius Church. Modeled after the Spanish Steps in Rome. We didn't climb them.
Serbian Orthodox Church of the Assumption. Services were underway but a peek from outside showed this has the icon wall in front of the altar.
We're back to Onofrio's Fountain, but look up and see the people spending 40e to hike the walls in the heat of the day. Forecast was for 30C and not a cloud in the sky.
Outside the Pile Gate, looking at Fort Bokar, part of the wall fortifications. Your 40e gives you admission the this fort and others.
A spirited group is preparing to kayak around the walled city and the bay. A good choice on a hot day, but we opted for the air conditioned bus and a return to the ship.
