An interesting city at the end of a fjord that's the most scenic of all the sail-ins on this cruise. We're glad to return to Kotor after about ten years.
The approach to Kotor requires a 90 degree turn about 5 miles from town. Located at that turn are two islands. This is Our Lady of the Rocks on a man made island. Not shown, next to it is a Benedictine monastery on St George Island.
Houses and churches line the steep hills along the sides of the fjord.Kotor is a walled city, and the walls extend high up the hills above it. No invader could flank it from above. The Sea Gate, or Main Gate, into the cityArms SquarePima Family PalaceSt Tryphon CathedralChurch of St NicholasChurch of St. LukeOrthodox church with wall of icons separating the altar from the peopleColorful door Outside the River GateThe Church of St. Mary of the Sea
