August 1 Seattle

We're back in Seattle after our cruise, but only for a quick stop.  We'll be back underway in another day, off to the foreign and exotic country of Canada.

The cruise ended all too soon, but with a great view of Mt. Rainier.  I made a zillion trips to Seattle back in the 80's and never saw Rainier.  It must be retirement.

Last breakfast at our favorite table -- although it had been cold enough in Alaska that we couldn't sit out here as often as we'd have liked.  And North Carolina was sweltering during that time.
Since we rolled our own luggage off the ship, we were one of the first ones off.  CBP was nothing more than looking into the camera...and not smiling.  A quick taxi to the Inn at the Market, where they had a room ready for us.  Dump the luggage, and we're off into the early morning of Seattle.
Earlier we had explored to the north of our hotel, and in 2014 we had done all of the things in downtown.  So we went to the touristy waterfront area of Miners Landing and the area around it.
From the waterfront.
We found this building to be very interesting...but don't you end up with some very strange rooms?  The engineer in me thinks that you've sacrificed a lot of space for an architectural statement, but what do I know?
That's it for the Pike Place Market area.  Tomorrow we take to the trains.
